Our prayers are with Jade!
“It is unbelievable how life is so unpredictable and finds a way to distract and derail you from your plans. My prayers are with Jade, her family in this hour, when they face one of the biggest tests of their life, in times ahead...I pray she comes out of this soon, and stronger. Hope that she is going back with happy memories from this country.”
:Shilpa Shetty
Thus was the reaction of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty (who is now hosting TV show Bigg Boss) on British reality TV star Jade Goody, a participant on the series and who had been diagnosed with cervical cancer, recently.
She had stayed in the Bigg Boss house for just two days and was looking forward to reaching out to millions of Indians “to change people’s perception” about her after the row with Shilpa in British reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2007. But Goody, 27, and a mother of two, had to go back to Britain for treatment.
Forgiveness is not easy. It requires a strong mind and a compassionate heart. The hurt that others inflict on us disturbs us from the past and sullies our future. Unfortunately, we tend to identify forgiving with only forgetting. But, by learning to live in the present, we will enable ourselves to embrace the pain of the infliction and heal ourselves as well as others.
No doubt, anger is never without a reason, but seldom is it backed by a good one. Adding to that, we make an obvious Freudian slip when we deal with such an awful situation, don’t we? Instead of that Shilpa Shetty set a true example of love and forgiveness that not everybody can conform to the same idea in that same situation. And, I thank God that we Indians are always like this or, to be precise, Indian women are always like this and they can go on multiplying their good virtues even when they go through the most terrible situations in their life.
